What is a Reaction Time Test?
Put simply, a reaction time test measures how fast you can click after seeing something change on screen. The moment the box turns green, you click — and the tool records exactly how many milliseconds (ms) that took. For reference, 1,000ms equals one second, so we're talking about tiny fractions of time here.
It's different from a CPS Test, which counts how many times you can click repeatedly. Reaction time is all about that first click — how quickly your brain spots the color change, processes it, and tells your finger to move. If you've ever lost a gunfight in Valorant or CS2 because someone shot first, or gotten hit first in Minecraft PvP, that's reaction time at work.
How to Use This Test (5 Rounds)
- Click the test area above — the screen goes red, meaning it's now in "waiting" mode.
- Keep your eyes on the screen and wait. After a random delay (anywhere from 1.5 to 5 seconds), the screen suddenly turns green.
- Click the instant you see green. The timer captures your reaction down to the millisecond.
- Don't click while it's red. If you jump the gun, you'll see a "Too Early" warning and that round resets. No cheating your way through it.
- Repeat for 5 rounds. Once all five are done, the tool averages your scores and shows your final reaction time. Five rounds gives a much more reliable number than just one.

What Happens Inside Your Brain During This Test
When you break it down, your reaction time comes from three steps happening back-to-back inside your body:
1. Your Eyes Pick Up the Change
The screen flips from red to green, and light hits the receptors at the back of your eyes (your retina). Those receptors fire off signals through your optic nerve to the visual cortex — the part of your brain that handles sight. This alone takes around 20 to 40ms.
2. Your Brain Makes the Decision
Once your brain registers "that's green," it needs to decide what to do about it and send a command to your hand. Monitor Refresh Rate

Mouse Polling Rate & Switches
A gaming mouse with a 1000Hz polling rate reports your click to the PC every 1ms. A basic office mouse at 125Hz? That's 8ms per report. On top of that, optical mouse switches skip the debounce delay that mechanical switches need, saving you another 4–8ms.
Finger Placement
